Discovering the Alentejo

 Sunday being such a nice day weather wise we decided to take a road trip to the Alentejo.
We stated off at Benavila where they were holding a Hot Air Balloon Festival with participants from all over the globe.
Here are some of the place that are worth a visit: 

• Anta de Benavila

• Capela

• Fundação Abreu Callado

• Igreja de N.S. de entre-àguas

• Igreja Paroquial

• Jardim do Lago do Poço do Concelho

From here we stopped at Avis with it's quaint little streets.

Our next stop was in Arraiolos.  It's very famous for it's beautiful tapestry work "tapetes de Arraiolos"

• Castelo de Arraiolos

• Pousada de Nossa Senhora da Assunção

• Igreja Matriz de Arraiolos

• Igreja da Misericórdia

• Fonte rural Chafariz dos Almocreves

• Pelourinho

• Todo o centro histórico de Arraiolos

• Igreja Matriz do Vimeiro

• Ermida de São João do Campo

• Palácio da Sempre Noiva

Next we did a little stop to see the Barragem de Maranhão.

Finally we stopped at Evora that's famous for the traditional and typical Alentejo dishes.  We also had lunch in Evora and anyone that knows us also knows that wherever we are there is always at least one friendly cat😍 Other places of interest are:-

• Praça do Giraldo

• Church of St. Antão and the lovely marle fountain (chafariz)

• Templo de Diana

• The gorgeous Cathedral go up to the tower for 3,50€ the views are amazing!
