Where to next is the question?

So fellow travellers I have come to the point where I'm at a cross-road regarding on where to go to next.  It has to be in Europe and I have 4 days, so nothing like the Maldives or Bali, although they're both in my bucket list 😜I also want to stay on a budget, so nothing  too luxurious thanks.  I've been thinking of London, Brussels or Praga.

Your views will be most welcome 😉

Day trip to Fatima

Here we took a day trip to visit the Shrine of our Lady of Fatima.  The town Fátima is  home to the Sanctuary of Fátima, a Catholic pilgrimage site. On the site there is a  Capelinha das Aparições which marks the spot where the Virgin Mary allegedly appeared in 1917 to three sheppard children. Other sacred sites include the Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Rosário, with its golden angels, and the modern church  Santíssima Trindade. Make time to also visit the wax museum which in our view is really worth the money ;)
Go to the site for info.  http://www.mucefa.pt

The prices are as follows:-
adults - (more than 12 years) 7,50€
children - (7 - 12 years) 4,50€
There is a 20% discount for.  seniors (more than 65 years), University students(more than 25 years) and there is a Family ticket (min 2 adults + 2 children)

And our lunch, which was excellent :P

Mosteiro da Batalha

One of the day trips we took to visit Mosteiro da Batalha here in Portugal.
Here's a bit of it's history taken from the site   http://www.mosteirobatalha.gov.pt

A Condensed History

The Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, also known as the Monastery of Batalha is without doubt one of the most beautiful examples of Portuguese and European architecture.
This dazzling architectural ensemble was born out of a promise the King, João I, made in thanks for his victory at Aljubarrota, a battle fought on August 14, 1385, which assured him the throne and guaranteed independence for Portugal.
The construction took over 150 years, across various phases. This is the reason why one can find not only gothic style (for the most part), but also manualine style and some renaissance touches. A number of alterations were made to the initial project, resulting in a vast monastic complex that today includes a church, two cloisters with annexed dependencies and two royal pantheons, the Founder’s Chapel and the Unfinished Chapels.
King João I gave it to the order of Saint Dominic, under the good auspices of Doctor João das Regras, chancellor of the kingdom, and Friar Lourenço Lampreia, confessor of the monarch.
In the Dominicans’ possession until the extinction of the religious orders in 1384, the monument was then incorporated within the Public Exchequer, and today it is a cultural, touristic and devotional Monument under the jurisdiction of IGESPAR, national Monument also declared World Heritage by UNESCO, in 1983.
Enjoy the photos and come and visit this beautiful Monastery!

Our Mother's day at Dino Land

So this year for Mother's day the Family decided to spend it in Dino Land in Lorinhã.  This wonderful park opened it's doors on the 9th February 2018.
This park is an outdoor museum and includes 4 tracks which corresponde to the most important epochs in the history of the earth. There are excellent facilities on site;  in the main building you will find a cafeteria with a terrace, where you can have a meal or just coffee.  There is also a Kiosk bar and a vending machine for those that do not want to take their own food.  If you do want to take your food there is plenty of picnic spots in the shade where you can eat.  There is also a store where you can purchase souvenirs and plenty of parking space too.  There are a number of rest rooms, so no need to worry about that ;)  Oh and if you prefer to go and eat out you can go out and come back in...we did just that and went to have lunch at Pingo Doce where we paid just 24€ for the 4 of us, this included drinks and dessert, so very cheap ;)
P.S.  They are very pet friendly and you are allowed to take your dog as long as it's on a leash!
