Next we went to visit Armação de Pera.

Armação de Pêra is a picturesque coastal town located in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. It's well-known for its long sandy beach, calm waters, and relaxed atmosphere, making it a popular destination for both tourists and locals. Here are some key aspects of the town:

The town has a strong fishing tradition, reflected in its name. "Armação" refers to a type of fishing gear used to catch tuna, while "Pêra" is the name of a nearby village. Historically, the town was a small fishing village, and though tourism has taken over as the primary economic driver, you can still find reminders of its maritime past, especially in the fishermen’s quarter and local restaurants that serve fresh seafood.

### 3. **Local Attractions**

   - **Fort of Armação de Pêra:** This 17th-century fort was built to defend the town from pirates. It offers stunning views of the coastline and is located near the main beach.

### 5. **Water Activities and Boat Tours**

The calm waters make it an excellent spot for swimming and water sports such as paddleboarding, kayaking, and jet skiing. Boat tours are also popular, especially trips to explore the nearby **Benagil Caves** and other sea caves along the coast, which are breathtaking natural formations.

### 6. **Nearby Attractions**

   - **Alcantarilha:** A small village just inland from Armação de Pêra, known for its unique chapel decorated with human bones, the Capela dos Ossos.
